Tristen Paul’s songs home in on the listener’s senses. Some feature a metal edge that demands attention, but is not overpowering. Others are highlighted by harmonies that skirt minor discord and sear the sould with a depth of emotion not often heard in contemporary music. “What you see is what you get. I’m me.” This line from their song. “Me”, describes Tristen Paul as well as anything else. They don’t try to fit into a particular mold; they simply follow the direction the music takes them. When the band got together, Michael, Rochelle, John, Denis, Andrew and Gary had each spent years playing in cover bands. Their musical influences include everything from Queen and Southern gospel to the Beatles, KISS and Pearl Jam. With Tristen Paul, they realized they really wanted to perform original music. They wrote “Playground,” a powerful, melancholy piece about children and school violence, the very first time they played together. Another of the group’s songs, “Justice”, gives voice to the agony and the resolve that arose from events of 9/11, and has been featured on Mp3.com. Fans of the music of Creed, Puddle of Mud, and Alice in Chains will appreciate the music of Tristen Paul, but their sound and lyrics will appeal to a broad range of audiences. As performers, they are powerful, but personable-in your face with musical messages that hit home.
