I can't believe no one has brought up the Double Duke's Saloon issue. I will. As a band or a musician, where do you stand on performing there now that this incident has occurred? Will the place close down, or will it stay in business? I'm interested in everyone's take on this situation.

I have no idea if Double Dukes will stay open or be shut down, but Im sure they will get the crap sued out of them.
From what Ive read, the guy had a problem with his drink, slammed it on bar and splashed the waitress in the process. Security would have every rite to escort him from the place, but NEVER should attack an unarmed person with a weapon like they did.
Most of my friend behave themselves, but I would still feel uncomfortable inviting them to a club that would beat an unarmed person with a batton. The security guy did and should be charged with murder because he killed the guy by using force above what was necessary.
Just shut up and play it!!

Hey Flipper, was the guy that was arrested the bald Bouncer that you frequently referred to here before? If they do stay open, look for some changes. I would say after this incedent, it won't likely happen there again. i'll bet all of the local bouncers are rethinking the way they do things at work. This poor dumb sap thought he was putting someone in the sleeper hold but did it wrong and that kills rather than puts to sleep. They should have just held him down till the popo arrived. Now this guy looks like he'll get some time in the slammer. No good came from any of this.

I don't recall referring to a bald bouncer before, but if I have, it was not about this guy. I don't really know this guy. I think there will be some changes in the scene regarding security. I do believe the hardest part of doing security in a bar is, when there is an issue, it seems nearly impossible for security to get there quickly and escort the person out the door due to so many other patrons (peacekeepers??) getting involved. I think there is a difference between doing security and being a bouncer. There is no doubt (from what I've read and heard)that this guy crossed the line. Not sure about others involvement either. I wasn't there to witness this, but I did have a few friends that were there. Now, I also don't know if they actually witnessed it either. I'm under the impression this all happened upstairs, and if that's the case, not sure how many of them were actually upstairs when this happened. You know how everyone wants to be a witness when things like this happen.... I think the guy will be lucky to just get some time in the slammer....I think the only good that can come from this is that security/bouncers should have to be certified like a cna. Make classroom training a requirement including basic first aid and cpr as well as how to safely restrain an intoxicated individual. Written policies on what to do with a drunk....do you just throw them out the door and not let them in?

Flipper, I may have you confused with another guy that used to post here on a regular basis about Double Dukes. He had a hard on for the bald bouncer there. It's been a few years so my memory and all.
